Shocking.

[Back after a long absence to follow up on an old story.]

Gregory McDonald is back in the news! [Read about his prior exploits here.] Short version: McDonald and three buddies decided to go down to I-Drive here in Orlando to abduct someone while stealing their car. Plain ol' car jackin'. And so they did. Most of them had done this before, or at the very least they had all committed numerous violent felonies. But of course, they all walked the street after those prior violent felonies because that's how the fucking lousy system works.

Not this time! Since they had stupidly (and unwittingly) abducted a federal law enforcement officer (imagine the luck!), they actually faced real sentences. And today, McDonald's sentence of 20 years in a federal "pound-me-in-the-ass" prison was upheld by the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Frankly, I'm shocked. I expected the courts or the prosecutor to let McDonald and his compatriots off again, as they had been for their numerous other felonies. But the government still governs well enough to say that outstanding citizens like McDonald and company can rape, murder, abduct, and rob regular folks all they want, but they'd better not fuck with The Man.

If only they HADN'T abducted a federal officer - if only their luck had held out and they had abducted some dumb ordinary tourist - they'd be back on the streets already, lootin' and pillagin'.
